Let’s play spot the canoeist!
If you look closely at the top left of the river in this image, you can see a person canoeing along the Buffalo National River. (Much easier to see in the wallpaper version!)
I captured this image from Big Bluff while standing on the Goat Trail, a precariously located trail along the highest sheer bluff between the Appalachians and The Rockies. If that doesn’t make you want to visit this place then I don’t know what will. It is absolutely incredible. I’ve been here 3 times and still want to go back again and again, I honestly can’t get enough.
Requiring a 3 mile hike to get to, it offers some of the most spectacular views of the Buffalo National River Valley that I have seen. That’s saying quite a bit, because I’ve seen a lot!
If you want to get to this particular location, start your hike from the Centerpoint Trailhead which is 3.4 miles north of Ponca, Arkansas on the right side of the road.
Been on the Goat Trail? I’d love to hear your story in the comments!
